Prompt: Perception
An unbiased opinion does no exist in this world. Does this statement sound to bold, or too "out there"? In my opinion, it seems perfect, because it is in a person's nature to always be biased towards one party. I know from my experience that when a person has kids, and is trying their best to provide for them, I am more willing to go out of my way to help them out. However, if somone has a child, and it seems to me that they are not doing their best, I would probably feel bad for the child, but would not have much pity for the parent. All biases are based on perception. If you perceive a person to be a bad parent, would you really want to go out of your way to assist the person? Perception is part of life, and is seen in every day life. People choose between things all the time, and have no idea why. I know that since my mom loved McDonald's when I was a child, I am more likely to go to McDonalds versus Burger King, because it was what I was taught.
Perception can also come from the area that you live in, and the traditions you are taught. For example, I have grown up in Georgia, and I know many people, myself not being one of them, who would rather walk through fire then be friends with someone of a different race. No one really has a reason for there hatred, its just there; it's like they want to continue the turmoil that their ancestors caused hundreds of years ago. This type of perception is definitely the worst type to have, expecially if you allow it to overpower your freewill, and to cause you dislike something or someone simply for the way it looks.
In all honesty, perception should never be allowed to define how you live, and how you treat others. You should always take into account who a person is, or what something is, before disregarding him or her. Perception is considered a way of conceiving something, and conceiving does not mean making a concrete judgement and sticking with it. You should always be willing to consider the situation and not assume what or who that person is. Assumptions, in my experience, usually only cause pain and suffering, and through that pain, I have learned that it is just better to get to know someone before making your judgement. Perception is never something you should allow someone else to define for you, always make your own decisions and do not allow your traditions, peers, or location decide who you will be, or who you will know.

All about Me
My name is Virginia Darsy, but I have gone by Ginny for as long as I can remember. I have recently graduated from high school, seventh in my class, and am now a freshman at Macon State College. I am still undecided about my major, however, I know it will either be in early childhood education or in business. I currently work at GEICO as an Emergency Road Service dispatcher full time, and I am also attempting to be a full time student. I believe that with my determination, I can do this, and receive my degree without having to delay my education until a later time. I have always been taught that when there is something you want, you just have to reach out and grab it, without any hesitation, and that is exactly what I plan to do. My goal is to become the first person in my family to graduate from college, and that is what I will do!
